Support our WSP volunteers in building two trail bridges in Rwanda in 2025!

This fall, two US teams will participate in a once-in-a-lifetime experience as they help build trail bridges in three isolated regions of Rwanda. The two planned trail bridges will span rivers that are too dangerous to cross during the rainy season. The bridges will enable over 3,000 people to reach markets safely to buy and sell crops, attend school, and access healthcare.

The twenty employees from WSP US will team up with our longstanding partner, Bridges to Prosperity (B2P), a US-based non-profit organization dedicated to improving lives in rural communities by establishing last-mile connections to break the cycle of poverty caused by rural isolation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) is a US-based non-profit organization dedicated to improving lives in rural communities by establishing last-mile connections to break the cycle of poverty caused by rural isolation.

Since WSP has partnered with Bridges to Prosperity in 2010, this collaboration has resulted in the construction of 18 bridges in Bolivia, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, and Rwanda. These footbridges have created safe, reliable, and cost-effective connections and changed the lives of nearly 60,000 residents.

Learn More about B2P

WSP and Bridges to Prosperity have made significant financial contributions to make these two bridges possible, such as providing housing accommodations, food, logistical coordination, and paid-time for the employees to dedicate towards these builds. Your generous donations will help cover the costs of airfare, safety equipment, supplies, visas, travel/health insurance, vaccines, and travel accommodations, which the two build teams are paying out-of-pocket.

Both of the 2025 bridge build projects will be located in rural communities in Rwanda. The project sites will be announced later this Fall!

In October 2024, two teams of volunteers from WSP US were trained and ready to set out to build two bridges in Rwanda. Following a sudden outbreak of the Marburg Virus in Rwanda at the end of 2024, WSP's Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) teams couldn't travel for the bridge builds. Some team members pivoted to support disaster relief in the U.S. during a destructive hurricane season. Thankfully, local volunteers and in-country B2P engineers stepped up to complete the Munyegera and Gihemvu bridges.

Now, the original WSP teams are set to travel in November 2025 to tackle two new bridge builds in Rwanda. All funds raised in the original donation period are reserved for these upcoming projects.
