Creating Safer Streets for Franklin County
Franklin County is committed to improving safety on our roadways, reducing fatalities and severe injuries.
To do this, the County is completing a Safety Action Plan, to address road safety for ALL road users. Using the Safe System Approach, Franklin County will identify the key factors in severe crashes, combining data analysis with YOUR feedback.
Safe System Approach
The Franklin County Safety Action Plan is aligned with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All initiative, which supports a worldwide effort to eliminate traffic fatalities. This approach emphasizes shared responsibility for road safety among all users, planners, and operators of the transportation system. Recognizing that human errors are unavoidable, the program advocates for designing and managing transportation networks in ways that minimize mistakes and reduce the likelihood of fatal or serious injuries when accidents happen.
