Will County is studying ways to alleviate truck traffic congestion and improve mobility and safety.
In 2020, Will County Division of Transportation (WCDOT) initiated a Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study to identify a continuous east-west freight connection through eastern Will County. Throughout the study, the public and stakeholders were invited to provide input at key milestones, including the assessment of existing conditions, the Purpose and Need, identification of the Range of Alternatives, and selection of the Alternatives Carried Forward. Following that input and analysis of alternatives and impacts by the study team, six Build Alternatives were identified as the Alternatives Carried Forward, for a more detailed review.
As the project transitions from a PEL study to a Preliminary Engineering and Environmental (Phase 1) study, we are reintroducing the project and the six Build Alternatives. We invite you to review these alternatives and share your experiences and feedback related to the study area. Your input will help refine and evaluate the alternatives and ultimately identify a Preferred Alternative.
The No-Build Alternative, where existing routes remain the same and east-west truck routes stay disconnected, will be considered throughout the study.
Please scroll through the below maps of our Alternatives Carried Forward, using the left and right arrows, then take our survey based on these alternatives.

We invite you to share your input! Your feedback will be used to further refine the Alternatives Carried Forward and help Will County identify a Preferred Alternative in Phase I.
