Connected 2050
East-West Gateway Council of Governments launched its community engagement and outreach initiative for the next Long-Range Transportation Plan. This engagement effort focused on providing residents and businesses from across the St. Louis metropolitan region the opportunity to participate in a regional conversation on the most important transportation challenges facing the region today and in the future.
Community Engagement Goals and Objectives
Community leaders and key regional stakeholders were asked to help shape the future of transportation in the region by refining and re-examining the set of Guiding Principles currently used to steer and support transportation investments and priorities. These principles, adopted by EWG in 2009, were intended to broaden the region’s transportation policy priorities beyond moving people and goods. They addressed outcomes that encompassed both transportation system performance goals and community livability and economic goals.
